RECENT NEWS:
Alden Water Rescue and ALERT Agencies were recently recognized and rewarded for their brave rescue efforts when excessive flooding hit Eastern New York and Nichols, New York last September. First and second ALERT Coordinators, James Miller and Ron Klimowitz attended Nichols Fire Departments’ Installation Banquet along with Dennis Wellspeak, to be be recognized and rewarded with a plaque from their fire chief.

To formulate and maintain a mutual aid agreement, establish a workable communication system, and to develop command and control plans to be placed in effect in the event of a maritime incident or catastrophe that would require multi-agency response.
Response Areas:
Each ALERT agency shall be primarily responsible for response to all bodies of water located within the jurisdiction of their governing body. Under the ALERT mutual aid agreement, each agency agrees to respond, as requested, to any area covered under ALERT region 1 in both the United States and Canada.
Note: For the purpose of search and rescue, vessels may freely cross the United States-Canadian border.
